Fish and Chips!

Some meals are so simple, so humble even, that you almost forget about them, and how great they taste.  Well, I do at any rate!  My local supermarket had a special offer on fresh cod fillets, and immediately I got an uncontrollable desire for fish and chips.  I bought a lovely thin tail end (I much prefer the taste to the chunkier fillets) and it was so fresh and utterly delicious, it does make you wonder just how fresh the fish at the local chippy is.

Even though this is an ‘everyday’ sort of meal, I still had to check a couple of things on the internet, as to how best cook the fish and chips.  I’m still learning to cook a wider range of dishes, and always keen to pick up a few tips.

Delia Smith’s website is very useful, especially for traditional home style cookery …

And for the chips, I gave the Hairy Biker’s way of doing them a go …

I really enjoyed this meal – so much nicer than any frozen fish product you can whack in the oven.
